Doubleknot locks your distracting apps behind a daily step goal. It's built so that as little of your data as possible ever leaves your device. This page explains what stays on your phone, what we store when you use team features, and how to reach us.

What stays on your device

• Your step data. Doubleknot reads step counts from Apple Health (HealthKit) on your device. Raw health data is never uploaded. If you join a team, only your daily step total is shared — see below.
• Your blocked apps. The apps and websites you choose to block are handled by Apple's Screen Time system using opaque tokens. Doubleknot never sees app names or icons — iOS renders them; the app only knows how many items you've selected.
• Motion and location (magic unlock). If you enable magic unlock, Doubleknot uses motion activity and brief location wake-ups so it can unlock your apps in the background the moment you hit your goal. This data is processed on-device only — nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

What we store on our servers

Doubleknot has no accounts, no email sign-up, and no passwords. The app identifies itself with a random anonymous ID generated on your device. When you use the app we may store:

• Trial and subscription state keyed to your anonymous ID, so your free trial works across reinstalls.
• Team data, if you create or join a team: the team name, the first name you choose to display, your daily step totals, the team goal, whether you've cleared it, and how many apps you have locked (a number only — never which apps). Your teammates can see this information; that's the point of a team.
• A push notification token, so your team's progress and unlock notifications reach your device.
• Invite links. If you open a team invite link without having the app, we store a one-way hash of your network address (never the address itself) along with which invite you tapped, purely so that we can drop you into the right team when you open the app after installing. It's used once, it's never linked to your identity or shared with anyone, and it's deleted within 24 hours.

We store nothing that identifies you personally unless you choose to enter it (your display first name).

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist on this website we store the email address you give us and use it only to tell you about Doubleknot's availability. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, or you can ask us to delete it at any time.

What we don't do

• No advertising and no ad tracking.
• No third-party analytics SDKs.
• We never sell your data to anyone.
• Payments are processed entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.

Data retention and deletion

Leaving a team removes your membership from it. To have your data (step history, team records, waitlist email) deleted, email us at hello@doubleknot.io and we'll take care of it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
